I had a friend write me a long email relating to a statement that I made about one of Bill Ayers colleagues supporting him in his views.  Instead of putting the whole email in, I decided to just post my response.

It has taken me awhile to put this together because it’s hard for me to believe that two people can see the same thing so completely different.

I’ve tried to take some time to try to understand what the differences really are.  First….you can go back in any email that I’ve every sent out and I’ve never called anyone names (and don’t get me started on that fat bastard Limbaugh saying it’s about race).     I’m not into name calling.  Doesn’t serve a purpose.  If I’ve called someone a socialist then I can pull references to the fact that they are socialist.  If I’ve called them liberal, same thing.

I don’t care if someone is fat, thin, white, black, Jewish, Muslim or Mormon.  I really don’t care.  What I do care about is the type of person that we will elect to any position in government, especially president.  I’m concerned that people on the left can’t ever seem to find anything good to say about this country.  I really count my blessings every morning that I live in a country where someone that comes from a humble beginning could become whatever they want to be.   Why do people on the left look to countries France, Germany Canada, etc and want to be like them.  They’re not better places to live!  There are two books that I’ve read in the last 3 months that fortify my beliefs, 1776 and John Adams.  More people today should read them.  They would then understand more about where we started and why we fought so hard to be independent.

Associations with persons that a presidential candidate of the United States of America has is important to me.  Obama attended a church with Jeremiah Wright for 20 years.  He married the guy!   I DO NOT BELIEVE HIM when he says that he never heard any of the incendiary remarks that are now all over television.  Just don’t believe it. If you haven’t sat in the church with him and can back up his statement, it’s ignorant for someone to take his side on this.  I went to Catholic school for 7 years, been involved in the catholic community for longer…it has impacted my life.  What was said and what was done had a significant impact on who I am today.  It had to have an impact on what Obama thinks and who he is today.

William Ayers – This guy came from a well to do family that became an anarchist.  He is a self professed Marxist and un-repented domestic terrorist.  His girlfriend and close friends are dead because bombs that they were making, to harm others, blew up on them instead. The only reason that he isn’t in jail today was because of prosecutorial misconduct.  After about 40 years he still believes in the same principles as he did then.  I don’t know about you, but if we didn’t have some similar beliefs, I couldn’t work with you.

Obama met Ayers in the mid 90’s and worked on the Chicago Annenberg Challenge and Woods Foundation.  The Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which was a 49.2 million dollar grant had Ayers as a co-sponsor with Barrack Obama sitting on the board of directors.  In 2003, the final technical report of the Chicago Annenberg Research Project “suggest that among the schools it supported, the Challenge had little impact on school improvement and student outcomes, with no statistically significant differences between Annenberg and non-Annenberg schools in rates of achievement gain, classroom behavior, student self-efficacy, and social competence.”  This is a precursor to how our tax money could be spent. 

Obama and the economy – All that you hear from the Obama campaign is the failed economic policies of the past 8 years.  Never hear the detail, just that they are failed.  But, Obama has no experience in creating, establishing, operating to or trying to balance a budget.  At least we finally understand what his policy is though.  Take from people that succeed and give to others.  Spread the wealth!  Simply put, a socialist strategy.  No other way to spin it.  Now, I have friends that make more than I do.  I want more…Hell, Strom makes more and as much as I try to take his money on the golf course I can’t get it yet.  I plan on improving my game to take his money though.  I don’t need Obama or Biden, Barney Frank or Nancy Pelosi to take it from him and give it to me.  I will either work harder to improve and take it myself or I won’t get it.  If they did decide to get into golf side games and take Strom’s money to give to me, because he happens to play better, then I will never improve.  It’s a simple way to look at it but it works for me. 

Health Care – I think everyone should have the opportunity to quality healthcare, period.  I just don’t believe that the government can run it.  There are examples of this today and they don’t work.  Canada and Great Britain have worse health care systems (unless you are a provider and go to a private doctor), but it is free.  Canadians come here because they can see a doctor sooner.  Hawaii just stopped it’s mandatory healthcare for kids. 

World Issues – Don’t have anything here.  Obama has no experience in world issues.  In his own words, he’s been a community organizer.  I just don’t think that the next step from community organizer is the President of the United States.

So, it is not in desperation that I say what I say or take the stand that I take.  I personally do not believe that Obama is the right choice for the country and fear that we will be heading down a slippery slope toward a European socialist type of country.  Towards your personal questions…yes there have been divorces, bankruptcies and poor choices.  No crimes or drugs that I’m aware of.  Nobody associated with those comments though have ever looked for a handout from anyone and worked their way through the trials in front of them.  I would consider them friends today and further say that living vicariously through some of their issues have ensured that I didn’t live through them myself.
