Random Thoughts

We have a bit of snow here this morning so instead of tackling the drive in to the office I figured I would share some Random, Irreverent and Odd Thoughts.

Of course this comes from San Francisco…why don’t we just let them become their own country.  Rep. Eshoo to push for Fairness Doctrine.  She wants it to apply to cable and satellite programming as well as radio and TV.  The Fairness Doctrine required TV and radio stations to balance opposing points of view.  I don’t agree with the Fairness Doctrine.  When I turn the radio on I want to listen to what I want to hear.  When I turn the TV on, it goes to a channel that I want to watch.  We all have a choice of what we want to watch or listen to.  If you want to listen to NPR or Air America, that’s your right.  If you want to listen to Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh, same thing.   The Reagan administration repealed the Fairness Doctrine…really launching talk radio.  Talk radio is concerned that if they are forced to offer large amounts of time to opponents whose response programs wouldn’t get good ratings, then they would loose advertisers.  Of course they would…look how successful Air America is.

Obamas Energy Secretary wants to artifically inflate the price of gas to the levels in Europe.  Why, because they want you to drive smaller cars, or live closer to work.  Mr. Chu feels that higher fuel prices will promote alternative energies and temper demand.  Remember that an increase in fuel prices ripples into an increase in everything else you use on a daily basis.

Muslim women arrested for refusing to remove her headscarf while going through security.  Good.  She violated a court policy about wearing headgear in court.

The Washington Post is selling space in the classified section so that you can post an inaugural congratulations, only problem is that you have to be positive.  Good thing the Fairness Doctrine isn’t in play.

Schools in Great Britan ban the word obese from letters to parents because it might upset the fat kids.  It’s being changed to “Very Overweight”. Really, can’t make this stuff up.
