What happened to global warming

I’ve noticed that we haven’t heard a whole lot on global warming lately and was curious as to why not. Is it not an important topic anymore…are there other things more important to worry about these days.  Sure a nuclear Iraq is something that we should worry about and maybe that jumped up in priorities.   I just didn’t understand because it certainly was a pot of boiling water (excuse the pun) a few years ago.

The BBC recently had an article asking the same question and it appears that we haven’t observed an increase in global temperatures in the last 11 years. But wait a minute, didn’t Al Gore receive a Nobel Prize because of his movie, An Inconvenient Truth, and his drumbeating of the coming armageddon that is global warming.

Al Gore was recently speaking to about 500 environmental journalists (that’s a friendly audience) sharing his optimism about the “shifting momentum” on the climate change (we don’t call it global warming anymore).  But what he wasn’t ready for was a question from Phelim McAleer, an Irish filmmaker who asked Gore to address nine errors in his film identified by a British court in 2007.  They had a little debate about whether polar bears were endangered, as the movie pointed out, and proved to be false.  But what was interesting is what happened next.  Al Gore couldn’t answer the question and so what do you do….turn the microphone off.  If your not comfortable facing facts then silence the questioner.

As you can probably tell, I’m not on the global warming (or climate change) bandwagon because man is fairly inconsequential when it comes to making changes to the planets temperature.  The amount of carbon dioxide (CO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2) and hydrogen chloride (HCl) expelled by a volcano has more of an effect on climate that what is produced by man.  All of the cap and trade, regulations, laws and fines will not stop the planet from continuing to change as has naturally occurred since the beginning of time.  The only people that will benefit from any climate change tax or regulation are the groups,  lobbyists or individuals that force cities or countries to adopt such draconian measures.

So, are you willing to pay more for everything based on a concept (man made global warming) that has been shown to be false…or at best not completley being straight with the facts.  Will fear mongering and doomsday speeches, movies and testimonials from celebrities (like they know) get you on the green express.  Just remember that once you loose a freedom you don’t get it back.  Consider all the facts before you commit to being green.
